Roger Reiner
President
Roger Reiner is the CBS President and has served on the Board of Trustees since 2016. He was born in North Hollywood, CA, raised in Sunland, CA, and has been living in Santa Clarita since 1988. His CBS experience began then when he and his wife of over 42 years joined CBS, and they have raised 6 children who have all had their Sunday school, Hebrew school, and Bar and Bat Mitzvahs at CBS. Roger was in law enforcement for 30 years and has run RBRPHOTOGRAPHY for the past 15 years with his wife and crew.

Danny Maya
Executive Vice President
Danny Maya is the Executive Vice President and has held leadership positions at CBS beginning in 2012, including the positions of Treasurer from 2012-2016, VP of Finance from 2016-2020 and currently serving as EVP. He has successfully led the efforts in instituting financial controls, produced multi-year forecasts, created a campaign for endowment, estate planning, and navigated through a change from a membership fee dues structure to a voluntary pledge structure. He has participated in multiple committees, including the Finance, Strategic Planning, Rabbinical search, annual gala, and various other committees. Danny was born in Glendale, CA, and moved to Santa Clarita in 2001 with his wife Lulu. Danny is a seasoned, accomplished, senior accounting and financial management professional with more than 20 years of experience in finance and operations. He joined the CBS community in 2008 when he enrolled his daughter into the CBS preschool program and has just had 2 daughters become Bat Mitzvah, with 1 more daughter still attending the Hebrew School program. Danny has found a home with CBS and feels a strong sense of belonging to its community.

Rob Cohen
Immediate Past President
Rob Cohen is the Immediate Past President. He served as President of CBS from 2018-2020 and, prior to that, Executive Vice President, Vice President of Ritual, and Trustee. Born in Valencia and a member of CBS from 1976-1978, he moved to Northridge in 1979. 25 years later, Rob returned to Valencia with his wife, Amy, and were later joined by daughters Brooklyn in 2005 and Kensington in 2010, who both graduated from the CBS preschool. A lawyer practicing in Valencia, Rob has been a Torah Reader, Haftorah Reader, Prayer Leader, Minyan Leader, B’nai Mitzvah Tutor, has served on the Rabbi Search Committee, has coordinated multiple Purim Carnivals, and has MC’d various events at CBS including the very successful gala celebrating Rabbi and Randie Hauss in 2019.

Amy Cohen
Vice President | Education
Amy Cohen is the VP of Education, and this will be her fourth year as VP and the beginning of her second full term. Amy was born in Ohio and after a brief four years “chillin” in upstate New York for college, Amy moved to LA for some sunshine and law school, and that’s where she met her husband. Amy and Rob have lived in Santa Clarita for 16 years and have had a law practice here together for the last 7 years. Amy jointed the CBS community back in 2007 when her older daughter was 2 and started preschool. Her younger daughter followed a few years later and is now in the Hebrew School. Big sister had her Bat Mitzvah two years ago. In addition to her time on the CBS Board, Amy was a long-time member of the Preschool Parent Council and also heads up the Annual CBS Holiday Boutique which benefits the Preschool.

Kenneth Greenberg
Vice President | Ritual
Kenneth Greenberg is the VP of Ritual for CBS and has served in various capacities on the Board of Trustees since 1998. He was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley and he works at his CPA firm in Encino. He and his wife Karen have lived in Santa Clarita since 1984. His two children, Sandra and Julie had their Bat Mitzvah’s at CBS along with Karen who had her B’nai Mitzvah at CBS as an adult. He has three grandchildren, two of which graduated from the CBS preschool and the younger one to follow!

Jonathan Krauss
Vice President | Ways and Means
Jonathan Krauss is VP of Ways and Means for CBS and has served on the Board of Trustees since 2018. He was born and raised in Los Angeles and he works as a prosecutor for the California Office of the Attorney General. He and his wife Jen have lived in Santa Clarita since 2009. Both of their daughters are CBS Preschool graduates who are now enrolled in the CBS Religious School. He was recently honored to be chosen as the CBS Men’s Club’s Man of the Year for 2019-2020.

Nathan Toveg
Vice President | Administration
Nathan Toveg is VP of Administration, and since 1994 with the exception of two years, he has held the following positions: President of CBS (2 times), Men’s Club President (2 times), VP of finance, VP of membership, VP of Ritual as well as Rabbi PRC chair and Security Committee chair. Nathan was born in Cairo, Egypt, lived in France and Maryland before moving to CA and settling in Valencia with his wife Marilyn in 1984. Nathan worked for the US Government for over 34 years in the following agencies: Social Security Adm, Dept of Defense and Office of Personnel Management. They have 2 adult children and 2 grandchildren. Nathan has been a member of CBS on and off since 1989 & some of the highlights of his time as a leader include creating the original CBS Mission & Vision Statement, creating a Personnel Relations Committees (PRCs) for the paid professional staff, implementing a two-day–a week Religious School program and creating the Mitzvah committee.

Jordan Ulch
Vice President | Communications
Jordan M. Ulch is the VP of Communications and has served on the board since 2015. He was born and raised in Santa Clarita and operates his own industrial automation instrumentation company. He has lived in Santa Clarita on and off since 1979. His CBS experience began in pre-school, he attended religious school and confirmation, and he celebrated his bar-mitzvah at CBS. Now he and his wife Jenny are blessed to share their Jewish values and traditions with their son who will also attend religious school at CBS when he is of age.

Suzannah Warlick
Vice President | Membership
Suzannah Warlick is VP of Membership and has been a member of CBS since 1998 with the enrollment of her first born into the CBS preschool. She is a videographer and documentary filmmaker who brought her love of film to CBS by establishing the CBS Film Series. She also initiated the CBS Photo Club inspiring members of the community to decorate our walls with a splash of color and creativity.

Jill Yaspan
Treasurer
Jill Yaspan is Treasurer and has served on the Board of Trustees since 2019. She was born and raised in Southern California and is a CPA specializing in SEC and financial reporting and technical accounting. Jill has lived in Santa Clarita since 2017 and is blessed with one son who is a CBS Preschool graduate and one son who is currently enrolled in CBS Preschool.

Denise Youngwood
Recording Secretary
Denise Youngwood is the Recording Secretary and has served on the board since 2015. She also runs the Dining for Dollars monthly fundraising program which she and her husband Alan started in 2013, shortly after they joined CBS. Prior to becoming the Recording Secretary in 2016, Denise served as the VP of Membership. Denise was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Santa Clarita in 1989. Denise has had multiple careers and is currently an independent Medicare Insurance Agent.

Lori Hoffman
Sisterhood President
Lori Hoffman volunteered as Ways and Means for 2 years at CBS, completed her B’nai Mitzvah in 2014, and is now Sisterhood President for the past year and a half. She was born and raised in LA and has made her home in the San Fernando Valley. Although she never lived in Santa Clarita, she worked at Mint Canyon Elementary School in Canyon Country for 25 years. She retired in 2017 from teaching as a Speech Pathologist from the Special Education program, and has devoted the past 5 years to giving service to CBS. She and her husband have lived in Porter Ranch since 1990 with their son who is finishing his last year at CSUN as a Radiology Technologist

Todd Stelnick
Men's Club President
Todd Stelnick is the President of CBS Men’s Club. He is a real estate investor and owns a Property Management company in SCV. He grew up in Santa Clarita his entire life and has been a Temple member of CBS for over 30 years. Todd met his wife Steffanie Stelnick at CBS Temple and they have 3 children, Joey, Sydney and Louis. Joey went through CBS preschool and will be entering 1st grade of CBS Hebrew school and Sydney and Louis are about to start their last year in the CBS Preschool. Todd’s entire family is very involved with the temple and he is excited for this opportunity to help lead CBS Men’s Club over the next 2 years.

Bertina Joseph
Trustee
Bertina Joseph is a Trustee on the CBS Board. Her first position on the board was while serving as Sisterhood President in 2015. She was born and raised in Southern California. Before retirement most of her career was spent in food service management as a chef, owning several catering businesses and managing large corporate food service companies. She and her husband, Gershom, have lived in the Santa Clarita Valley since 2005 and have had the great opportunity to guide their granddaughter, Katie, in her Jewish education here at CBS from preschool to her Bat Mitzvah.

Josh Kaplan is a trustee for CBS and has been on the CBS board for the last two years. He is currently employed with The North Los Angeles County Regional Center and is a Self Determination Specialist. He has worked for them for 6 years. He resided in Santa Clarita with his wife Sara and two children since 2014.

Lori Malin
Trustee
Lori Cohen Malin is a Trustee on the CBS board and VP of membership for CBS Sisterhood.She was born on Long Island and has lived in Canyon Country since1992. Prior to that,she was a Dietitian for the State of NY and after moving to California, helped plan SCi Fi conventions for the over 25 years.Her son and daughter both received their Jewish education here at CBS. Lori became a Bat MItzvah at CBS in 2008.

Tom Mendelson
Trustee
Tom Mendelson is presently serving as an appointed Trustee of the CBS Board of Trustees. Tom was born in Chicago and moved to California in 1992. He worked for the Northern Trust Company for 38 years, retiring in 2018. Tom and his wife, Sherri, have 4 children and 8 (soon to be 9!) grandchildren. 3 of the 4 celebrated their bar/bat mitzvahs at CBS. Tom and Sherri’s children were active in USY and Camp Ramah. Their oldest daughter, Katie, went on the Nativ program to Israel in 1996. Tom served in several capacities on the CBS board some years ago, including president in 1996.

Bruce Neft
Trustee
Bruce Neft is a Trustee and has been on the CBS Board of Trustees for about 35 years. He has held various board positions, including President on three different occasions. He was born in New Jersey and moved to the Santa Clarita Valley in 1981. Bruce is a retired attorney and currently works as a mediator. He and his wife Beth love to travel and have been to all seven continents.

Alan Shear

Alan Shear has been a Trustee and Chairperson of the Preschool PRC since 2016. Alan was born and bred in the Bronx, NY. He and his wife Susan moved to Valencia in 2014 from Westchester, NY. Alan retired from the New York City Department of Education where he served as a teacher, administrator and supervisor for over 40 years. Their two adult children live in Southern California.

Marianne Simon
Trustee
Marianne Simon is once again a Trustee on CBS’ Board after serving for 4 years (2 terms) as VP / Ritual and 2 years as a Trustee prior to that. She continues to serve on the Ritual Committee. A native of Los Angeles, Marianne and her husband, Dave, have lived in Santa Clarita since 1990 and have been active members of CBS for almost 20 years. Marianne is a Notary Public providing mobile services to residents of the Santa Clarita Valley. She is the proud mother of a son, Daniel, and a daughter, Jessica, and an even prouder grandmother of grandson Marcus and granddaughter Claire who reside in Polson, Montana.

Andy Steier is a Trustee and has been a returning CBS member since 2019. He and his wife Patrice have lived in Santa Clarita since 2002 and he was originally a member of CBS back then. Steffanie Stelnick is a Trustee. She is a wife, mother of three and a licensed California Attorney who has been a member of Congregation of Beth Shalom for over 20 wonderful years. She is thankful to Congregation Beth Shalom for introducing her to her husband over 20 years ago and being her extended family through all of her family’s joys and sorrows. She is fortunate to be on the board to help give back to the temple for all the times it has been there for her.

Ken Tratner
Trustee
Ken Tratner is a Trustee. He has been a board member since the late 1990’s and previously served as VP Finance, Treasurer, and has also participated on a number of committees. Ken moved to ‘Simcha Clarita’ in 1986 with his wife Carolyn and three sons. Ken was one of the men’s club helpers (over 20 years ago) who built the kitchen and preschool playground.
