The Glory of Life

“Life can be so wonderful in many small ways despite limitations…”
– Franz Kafka
Franz Kafka is widely regarded as a major figure of 20th-century literature. His works (The Metamorphosis, The Trial, The Castle, etc.) delve into themes of alienation, anxiety, and the absurdity of modern life, often reflecting his personal struggles. His domineering and emotionally abusive father deeply affected Kafka, shaping his self-perception and his writing.
In 1923, Franz Kafka meets Dora Diamant on the Baltic Seacoast. He is 20 years her senior and the two fall in love. Because of the power of love, the last year of Franz Kafka’s life becomes his happiest. “The Glory of Life”, based on the novel by Michael Kumpfmüller, tells of the young love of two extraordinary people in a hopeless situation.
