In Death & Taxes, audiences meet Harvey Schein in retirement, meticulously guarding his wealth and searching for ways to protect his estate from the IRS. Schein grew up in depression-era Brooklyn and inherited little when his parents passed. Determined to leave a legacy and ensure that his wealth would provide for future generations, his fixation with living frugally and avoiding taxes caused heartache while he lived.

 Through this deeply personal family story, Death & Taxes explores the larger national debate over the so-called “death tax.”
